Upcoming Mission & Outreach Opportunities
Backpack Food Ministry for Kids
What is the Backpack Ministry About? This ministry runs throughout the school year. It discretely provides nutritious, child-friendly, easy-to-prepare food to chronically hungry children to take home over the weekends and out-of-school times during the school year.
Is There Really a Need? The Backpack Food Ministry for Kids is designed to help these children get the nutrition they need over the weekends. For some children in Douglas County, the only meals they get each day are the ones that they eat at school. Some students don’t have any food to eat over the weekend. Download more here.
Next Sunday – Good Samaritan Food Collection
On the first Sunday of each month you are asked to bring with you the food for the month.
Trinity Soup Kitchen Sept. 23
Trinity Table is the oldest, large-scale, Sunday-only soup kitchen in metro Atlanta. Located at Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Atlanta, they established a program that gives volunteers from local churches and organizations an outlet to express their compassion through service to the poor. On any given Sunday, over 300 people come to our table for food to sustain them and kind words to help them during their current state.
This is Douglasville FUMC 19th year to be going to serve. What we need 80 gallons of Soup (container & recipe provided), 1800 sandwiches [900 meat & cheese; 900 P-Nut Butter & Jelly (each one must be individually wrapped)]. 40 volunteers needed to help out (kitchen helpers and servers).
All food should be delivered to the Kitchen in Tidwell Hall prior to Sunday morning. Please label the food “Trinity,” place in the refrigerator and Notify Susan Pece at 770-920-1358.
